Globe Restaurant and Bar is located in Downtown Raleigh, NC on Glenwood South, the menu features eclectic global cuisine that changes seasonally and is prepared fresh daily with local ingredients.
Globe was opened in October of 2008 by partners Heath Holloman, Henry Burgess and Gray Modlin. The concept came from a desire to cook food using ingredients and flavor profiles from around the world.
Heath and Gray have established a philosophy that everything should be made from scratch, including curing their own corned beef, making their own red wine vinegar, and pasta made fresh daily. At any given time on the menu at Globe you will find Thai Curry dishes as well as Moroccan Tagines, Japanese inspired Tuna preparations, Italian staples that could be found in any grandmother’s kitchen and Eastern NC Style BBQ Duck Confit.
By taking inspiration from around the globe, using seasonal local ingredients and basing it on a cooking foundation developed over the years they have created some of the most acclaimed food in Raleigh. Greg Cox of the News & Observer gave the Globe Four Stars; international gastronomic society Chaine des Rotisseurs selected Globe for one of their fine dining and wine events, and Globe was featured on the PBS show North Carolina weekend and selected as the best restaurant visited by the show in 2009.
